Crimes of Convenience

A crime of convenience as a whole is a crime that happens for no apparent reason, with no motive, just because someone is bored.

To me this topic is interesting due to the fact I’m from Baton Rouge where hearing about someone getting shot everyday on the news isn’t a big deal. It’s just part of living in the big city, the city where the murder rate is higher than Chicago.

Some times these crimes hit close to home, like your college campus, with the victim being one of your friends. Right outside LSU, the perfect example of a crime of.
The story:
It was late at night, early morning (1:00 am or so) , when Gunnar, the victim, left his apartment behind Fred’s, the bar, in tigerland. He left to simply go get a drink from Circle K. After not returning, his friends got worried, but me knowing Gunnar, that just how he was. He would say he would be back in 5 minutes and it would be 5 hours. But on this night it wasn’t him just wondering off. This night he was jumped, for no apparent reason. He was found in a ditch, unconscious, and on the brink of death. He was taken to the hospital where he was considered brain dead and his family had to decide to cut off his life support. This story scared many students around campus because this was one or a few occurrences around the time, but to me it was more than that. To me it was that I lost a friend for no apparent reason, just that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
